World Tourism Day 2018 on St Helena

September 28, 2018

We celebrated World Tourism Day yesterday 27th September.

Happy #worldtourismday from St Helena Island down in the South Atlantic. Known for our history & heritage, adventure & natural beauty (landscapes). Our local people are affectionately known as 'Saints'

When we go abroad & speak with our 'strange' accents, we often get asked 'Where is St Helena Island?'  So here's St Helena in a snapshot:

St Helena Island is a tiny British Overseas territory situated in the South Atlantic Ocean.  In a nutshell, St Helena was discovered by the Portuguese in 1502; settled by the British; the place of Exile for Napoleon Bonaparte & even the Boer prisoners of War; a key location in the Transatlantic Slave Trade, Sir Edmund Halley's platform for mapping out the stars in the South Hemisphere...I could go on but even that small snapshot of our history shows what makes St Helena so unique & diverse.

We are a sub-tropical island with an enviable marine life to match our colourful history.  What we lack in white sandy beaches; we make up for in marine diversity where you get to swim with whale sharks, visit the dolphins playing in their natural habitat, dive with the devil rays or go sport fishing for our Atlantic tuna.

Like the people living here (affectionately called 'Saints') & the products we create at G-Unique; the island is both unique & diverse.

If you're interested in both our island & our locally made jewellery & artisan products then connect with us by joining our mailing list, we'd love to welcome you with a 10% off just for joining us.
